You can also follow these step-by-step instructions with screenshots instead:

1. Access the auction through the link or QR code provided to you by the organization.

2. Scroll down to select the category of items you'd like to browse. Alternatively, simply scroll to see all of the items available for bidding.

3. Once you find an item you are interested in, you can view the current bid, number of bids, add and remove the item from your watchlist, and easily place a bid. If you'd like to learn more about the item before bidding simply click on the image or View details.

4. You can see more photos and details about the item. When you are ready to bid, click Place a bid.

5. The bid increments are pre-set by the organization hosting the auction. The bid box will display the next highest bid. Type your bid or select from the quick bid amounts and click Continue to $xx bid.

You can also choose to set an auto-bid instead. Your auto-bid is kept private. Setting an auto-bid allows the system to bid for you automatically in the pre-determined bid increments anytime you are outbid. Simply click the auto-bid section.

If you chose an auto-bid a pop-up will appear - enter your maximum bid and click Continue to set auto-bid.

6. If you already have a BetterWorld account you can log in. Not to worry if you don't have an account yet, you will be prompted to create one in order to place your bid.

If you don't have an account yet, enter your personal details and create a password. You can access your BetterWorld bid history, item watchlist and receipts at account.betterworld.org

Please Note: Why is an account required? Your credit card will be securely saved to make future bidding easier. Plus...

6. You will be asked to cover a credit card processing fee of 2.9% + 30c. If you agree to this fee, the organization will keep 100% of your winning bid donation.

7. Decide whether or not you'd like to place this bid anonymously. By default the system will display your first name. If you click the Make this bid anonymous checkbox your name will be hidden from the public bid history.

8. Choose your payment method.

Please Note: Why is a payment method required to place a bid? This is to streamline the end of auction process, so the organization can easily charge the payment method saved on file for the winners. You will not be charged for bidding. If you would like to pay by check, just let the organization know ahead of time.

9. Be sure to opt into receiving text notifications. You will be emailed when you are outbid and when their are 48 and 12 hours remaining to bid. To receive text notifications, you must opt-in.

BetterWorld will not share your information! You will only receive notifications regarding the auction or any other fundraisers you participate in.

Finally, click Place bid.

10. Once your bid is successfully placed, you can return to the auction or item page.

11. You will receive an email confirmation of your bid from [email protected]. The confirmation email will contain a link to the item you bid on, information on when the bidding ends, and possibly additional messages from the organization.

12. When the auction ends and is officially closed, you will receive a "Congratulations" email if you win, and an "Auction payment receipt" email once your card is charged. Your card will not be automatically charged at the end of the Auction.

13. This email will have a link to the fulfillment center where you can select how you would like to receive your item. If the item is eligible for shipping, additional shipping charges may apply.

14. Your auction payment receipt email will also have a link to the fulfillment center.

15. The receipt will also have the organization's EIN at the bottom. You can also access this receipt in your BetterWorld account.

Please Note: The fulfillment center will have a message center for you to get in touch with the organization if needed.

What is an auto-bid?

An auto-bid is how you can tell the platform the most you are willing to bid on an Auction item so it can bid on your behalf until that amount. If you place an auto-bid, you can lay back and relax as the platform will bid for you incrementally whenever another bidder makes a bid!

If your auto-bid is outbid you will receive an automatic email notification that you have been outbid. The email will contain the link to return to the bidding page, so you can bid again or set another auto-bid! Notifications are sent immediately after your auto-bid is outbid, ensuring you have the opportunity to respond promptly.

If two individuals place the same auto-bid, priority will go to the individual who placed it first, and the second individual will be notified that they were outbid.

How to place an auto-bid

1. Click on the item you wish to bid on from the auction to go to that item's bidding page.

2. Locate the Auto-bid section on the right side, below the regular bid option.

3. A pop-up will appear explaining the auto-bid process. Enter the amount you are willing to pay for that item and click Continue to set auto-bid.

4. BetterWorld will place the next minimum bid for you. Should you get outbid, BetterWorld will bid for you again until you win the item or your max bid has been outbid. If this happens, you will receive an automatic email notification that you have been outbid. The email will contain the link to return to the bidding page, so you can bid again or set another auto-bid!

You can also increase the auto-bid by going to the item directly, or you can see all your bids here and click Raise my max bid.

Can anyone see my auto-bid?

Your auto-bid is kept completely confidential to both auction participants and organizers. We hide this information to avoid conflicts of interest and keep auctions fair! Only you are able to access and create your max bids.

You can increase your auto-bid by going to the item directly, or you can see all your bids here and click Raise my max bid.
