Connecting your data to Blackbaud
Please Note: This integration is currently only supported for Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT (RE NXT).
Go to the BetterWorld app on the Blackbaud Marketplace, or navigate to Integrations inside BetterWorld and click Go to Blackbaud Marketplace.
Click Connect on the left-hand side of the Marketplace page and accept the confirmation dialog.
Please Note: The person with Blackbaud admin rights needs to complete this step.
Return to the Integrations page in BetterWorld and click Log in to Blackbaud.
Blackbaud will ask you to authorize BetterWorld's access. Click Authorize to continue.
You'll be redirected back to BetterWorld and see a green "You are now connected" success message.
On the Integrations page, select your organization's default Blackbaud fund from the dropdown, then click Save.
Please Note: Transactions won't sync to Blackbaud until a default fund is set, since every Gift object in Blackbaud requires an associated Fund object. Each fund shows its Blackbaud Object ID in parentheses, for example "Botanical Garden Fund (7)." If your fund isn't showing up, click Refresh Fund Options. Updated funds appear within 10 minutes.
This default fund is used for all transactions unless you configure campaign-specific overrides, covered below.
Choose your gift batch template
Decide how you want gifts to arrive in Blackbaud.

Batched daily by gift type | Gifts are grouped by type and synced at 1:00 AM in your timezone. They stay in pending status until approved in Blackbaud | Teams with a finance approval workflow |
Please Note: If you use the batched daily option, gifts can only be created in Blackbaud. BetterWorld can't update them after the initial sync, due to a Blackbaud API limitation.
Select your preferred option on the Integrations page and click Save.
Configure funds per campaign (optional)
You can override your default fund on individual campaigns from each campaign's Advanced Settings page.
Donation campaigns and donation form widgets
Three options are available:
Use the default fund. Donations route to your org-level default fund.
Choose another fund. Pick a specific Blackbaud fund just for this campaign.
Ask donors to choose a specific fund. Donors see a fund dropdown at checkout.
If you use "Ask donors" mode:
You must add at least two fund options.
Each fund can have an optional custom display name that donors will see, instead of the Blackbaud internal name.
You can drag and drop to reorder the options.
The fund selector appears as an optional dropdown under "Additional questions" on your donation form.
Auctions, events, and giveaways
Two options are available:
Use the default fund.
Choose another fund. Select a campaign-specific fund, or clear it to revert to the default.
Please Note: Donor fund selection isn't available for auction, event, and giveaway campaign types.
Map contact field types
In the "Map data to Blackbaud field types" section on the Integrations page, choose the Blackbaud type labels that will be applied to each contact data point.

These type values appear on the Constituent record in Raiser's Edge NXT. Select whichever best matches how your organization categorizes supporter contact information.
Map optional custom fields (if applicable)
If your Blackbaud account has custom fields you'd like to populate from BetterWorld data, you can map them in the "Map optional data to custom Blackbaud fields" section.
Before mapping, custom fields must already exist in your Blackbaud account. If you've recently added new custom fields, click Refresh Objects to pull them in.
Available fields to map
Person to Constituent:
BW Donor ID, mapped to your custom field (Text or Number)
Transaction to Gift:
Donation ID
Campaign Type (for example, auction, donation, tickets, or giveaway)
Discount Amount
Discount Code Name
Refund Amount
Refund Date
In-Platform (true for payments processed through BetterWorld, false for offline payments)
Frequency (one-time, monthly, or annual)
Select the matching Blackbaud custom field from each dropdown and click Save.
FAQ
Can I connect multiple Blackbaud accounts?
No. The integration connects one Blackbaud account to your BetterWorld organization. To switch accounts, use the Log in with different account button on the Integrations page.
What happens if a donor already exists in Blackbaud?
BetterWorld syncs the donor data as a Constituent. We recommend reviewing your Raiser's Edge NXT records after the first sync to confirm deduplication handled correctly for existing records.
Will refunds sync to Blackbaud?
Refund Amount and Refund Date are available as optional fields you can map to custom Blackbaud fields. They don't automatically update the original gift record.
Can donors see fund names at checkout?
Only if you've configured "Ask donors to choose a specific fund" on a donation campaign. In that mode, donors see either the Blackbaud fund name or your custom display name, if you've set one.
What if I change the batch template after gifts have already synced?
The setting only affects future transactions. Previously synced gifts aren't affected.
Is there a fee to connect BetterWorld to Blackbaud?
No. There's no setup fee and no annual fee to use the Blackbaud integration — it's included at every BetterWorld plan tier, like all of our native CRM integrations.
