How to connect BetterWorld to Salesforce: a step-by-step guide

Sync your donor and donation data automatically between BetterWorld and Salesforce

Written by Sam Jauch

Connecting your data to Salesforce

Navigate to the Salesforce integration page

  • Log in to your BetterWorld dashboard.

  • Click the dropdown menu on the upper right side of the screen and select Team Settings.

  • Click the Integrations link on the left sidebar and navigate to the Salesforce tab at the top of the page. Then click Log in to Salesforce. You will be redirected to Salesforce.

Log into your Salesforce account

  • Enter your username and password and click Log In.

  • Allow necessary permissions for the integration to function.

  • You will be redirected back to your BetterWorld Dashboard.

Configure field mapping (optional)

  • Once connected, you can optionally map additional BetterWorld data to Salesforce fields of your choice, standard or custom.

    1. On the Salesforce integration page, review the default field mappings for donors and transactions.

    2. For any optional field you'd like to sync, choose an existing Salesforce field or create a custom one to map it to.

    3. Click Save to apply your field mapping choices.

If you don't configure any optional fields, BetterWorld will still sync the standard donor and transaction fields automatically. For a full list of what's synced by default versus what's optional, see BetterWorld Salesforce integration: understanding data sync.

FAQ

Do I need Salesforce's Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) to use this integration?

No. The integration works for organizations with or without NPSP installed, and it's also compatible with Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud. Orgs without NPSP still get Contact and Opportunity syncing, following NPSP conventions.

How often does data sync?

Donors and donations sync automatically, either as records are created or updated in BetterWorld, or on a daily basis.

Can I change my field mappings after I've connected?

Yes. Return to the Salesforce tab on the Integrations page at any time to update your optional field mappings.
