How to create an event

Bring your ticketing, auction, paddle raise, and other campaigns together on one bundled event page with a combined goal!

Written by Anna Speicher

Use this article to set up a BetterWorld Event: one donor-facing page that brings several of your campaigns together, such as ticketing, an online auction, a paddle raise, and a giveaway, with one combined fundraising goal and progress bar.

You may already see an event set up in your dashboard - Every ticketing campaign is automatically added to its own Event. When you create a ticketing campaign, BetterWorld creates an Event with the same name and adds the ticketing campaign to it. You can open any of these Events and add more campaigns to it.

If your organization doesn't have any Events yet, here's how to set one up:

Step 1: Add your Event details

Please note, any information you add during the creation can always be edited at a later time.

  1. From your dashboard, click Events in the left menu.

  2. Click + New event in the top right corner.

  3. Enter your Event name and description.

  4. Add the start and end dates and times.

  5. Enter your fundraising goal.

  6. Customize the primary color.

  7. Click Continue.

Step 2: Choose your campaigns

In this step, you can create new campaigns for your Event, add campaigns you're already running, or both.

  1. To create new campaigns, select the campaign types you'd like to add. You can add one ticketing campaign and up to five of each other campaign type.

  2. To add campaigns you're already running, click Already running some of these? and select the campaigns from the list. Use the search box and filters to find a specific campaign.

  3. Once you've added your campaigns, click Create event with x fundraisers

Please Note: Each Event can include only one ticketing campaign. If you select a ticketing campaign to create, existing ticketing campaigns are hidden from the list, and if you select an existing ticketing campaign, you can't create a new one.

New campaigns created in this step are private. They appear in your Event dashboard, but donors won't see them on your Event page until you make each one public from its own settings. This gives you time to finish setting up each campaign first.

Step 3: Customize your Event page

  1. Upload a header image. For best results, use an image with a 2:1 ratio that's at least 2280 x 1140 pixels.

  2. Add an appeal to donors. This is one line, up to 255 characters, shown under your Event name.

  3. Choose whether to show the fundraising goal progress bar and the supporter count.

  4. Optionally, turn on a primary button and a secondary button. Buttons can link to a campaign, scroll to a page section or link to an external page. See the page header section below for button options.

  5. Click Save and finish.

Done! Your Event is created, and you'll see its Overview page in your dashboard. New Events are private, so donors can't see your Event page until you make it public.
