How to create and manage categories for impact items

Learn how to create and edit categories in your impact giving campaign and assign your impact items

How to create an impact giving category

1. From your dashboard head to Donation campaigns, then click Manage on your impact giving campaign.

2. Next, click Impact items in the left sidebar, then choose Categories along the top bar.

3. Click Create a category now or the New category button in the top right corner.

4. Enter the category name and click Save.

Done! You've successfully created a category. Categories are automatically listed in alphabetical order - to create a custom order, please number the categories.


How to edit and delete an impact giving category

1. Once you've created your categories you'll see them listed on the category page. Simply click Manage on your impact giving campaign, head to Impact items, then choose Categories along the top bar.


2. From here you can click the three dots next to a category to rename it or to delete it.

​Please note: You can only delete a category if no items are assigned to it.

Categories are automatically listed in alphabetical order. To create a custom order, please number the categories.


How to assign your impact items to a category

In order to assign an impact item to a category you'll first need to create the categories. Once created follow these steps to assign an item:

1. Head to the Impact items page. Then click on the item you'd like to assign.

2. Once on the item's page, you'll see a Category section. Click on the section to open the dropdown and choose from the list of categories you've created.

3. Click Save.

4. Now you can see your categories listed under your campaign's description and donors can click the categories to easily navigate between sections.
