You can opt in to receiving outbid notifications via text message while placing a bid for the first time! Just click the box to opt into text message notifications at the bottom of the checkout page:
Another way you can ensure you receive bid notifications via text message, is through your account settings:
Start by going to Settings in your account. Then scroll to the bottom until you see the form to enter your phone number:
Once your phone number has been entered and saved, go to the Notifications & emails page in the left side menu. Click the box next to "Outbid Alerts" and click save.
You're all set and will get notifications on your phone, such as these:
