When bidders are placing a bid, they have the option to set a regular bid or a place max bid. Normal Bids, where the bidder enters the exact amount they wish to bid, and Max Bids, where the system automatically increases the bidder's offer up to their specified maximum amount, ensuring they remain the highest bidder until their limit is reached. Bidders' max bids are only visible on BetterWorld once that bid has been placed. The organization's administrator will see all bids placed, except for any hidden max bids behind the scenes.
The reason we hide this information is ultimately to protect the donor, avoiding a scenario of 'shill bidding'. We want BetterWorld to be a place where donors know their information is always safe and secure. If a donor ever has a question about how they were outbid, or if you, the administrator, would like to see the full list of max bids after the Auction, we're happy to run a report for you and share this information. Additionally, bidders can verify their bid type by reviewing their confirmation email, which specifies whether the bid was a normal or max bid. This ensures transparency and helps maintain trust in the auction process.
You can send us an email at [email protected] or use the chat bubble in the bottom right corner to send us a chat with your request, and we'll try to handle it asap.
