Choose ticket types and quantities
From your event, tap Sell tickets. You'll see every ticket type available for the event, along with its price and how many remain.
Use the + and – buttons to set how many of each type you're selling, then tap Continue to ticket information.
Please Note: Some ticket types are sold individually, while others are packages that include multiple tickets (for example, a sponsor package that includes 10 tickets)
Add guest and ticket details
For each ticket, tap Select existing or new donor to attach it to a name.
You'll have two options:
Existing donor: Search your donor list by name or email and select the matching record.
+ New donor: Create a new donor record with the guest's name, email, and other details on the spot.
You can also add a paddle number for the ticket if your event uses them.
Add any extras
If your event has add-ons — like a parking pass or a drink ticket — you'll see them next. Adjust quantities the same way as tickets, then tap Continue to questions.
Answer any additional questions
If your event has custom questions set up (like a newsletter opt-in or "How did you hear about us?"), you'll be prompted to answer them here before continuing to the cart.
Please Note: Any custom questions marked as required on your normal online checkout page are always optional when sold in person through the app — this is by design, so a sale at the door doesn't get held up.
Review the cart and check out
The cart shows everything you've added — tickets, guest names, and add-ons — along with the total. You can also add a discount code here if you have one.
Please Note: Discount codes can't be created from the app itself — they need to be set up in your BetterWorld dashboard first. Once a code exists, you can apply it here.
Tap Continue to payment to choose how the guest will pay:
Tap to Pay on iPhone — accepts a contactless card, Apple Pay, or Google Wallet by holding it near your phone
Card — enter a card number manually
Cash — record a cash payment
Please Note: Charging a donor's saved card on file isn't available for ticket sales — only the three methods above. If you need to charge a saved card or bank account, that's done through the separate "Collect a payment" flow instead.
Setting up Tap to Pay
The first time you use Tap to Pay on iPhone, you'll be walked through a quick setup to confirm your device is compatible and connect the reader.
Please Note: Tap to Pay on iPhone requires an iPhone XS or later running iOS 18.0 or newer, with a passcode set and an active internet connection. If the reader won't connect, try closing and reopening the app; if you see a prompt to remove cards from Apple Wallet, follow that prompt and try again.
